Some Pratical stuff!
If this is your first forray into small scale farming, please be aware that there is a lot of meat on a pig! A typical 10st pig when processed will leave you with a bigger garden afterwards, but a much smaller kitchen! On average you may expect 70kgs of meat and this will require considerable chilling and freezing capacity. And while we will pack it all away for you in manageable sizes to your spec, please, please, please make sure that you have enough space allocated well in advance. Ideally you will need approx 2 x domestic chest freezers to freeze down this much meat. It will take approx 3 days to freeze each 20kgs meat...And the less you freeze at a time the better. So chat to your family and friends in advance, and sort out who is getting what so that it can be frozen asap.
